Gerbera Daisy Wedding

Gerbera Daisies... aren't they the happiest flowers you've ever seen?  This past winter we had the opportunity to design a wedding where the focal flower was a red gerbera daisy.  Accenting the daisy were red mokara blooms that added to the whimsical feel of the centerpieces.  To give the wedding a sophisticated and elegant look, we designed the playful flowers in glass bowls filled with water and floating candles or in tall glass cylinders with submerged glass orbs.  The look was quite striking, especially with the red up lighting Mood placed around the perimeter of the ballroom.

Hyatt Ballroom Ceremony

Being in Hawaii, we often find ourselves outdoors on the weekend setting up for a wedding next to a beach.  This past weekend we had the opportunity to set up a glamorous wedding inside a ballroom.  Mood, a division of Yvonne Design, had the pleasure of creating a romantic and elegant ceremony setting for Trisha and Gavin in the Mauka Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency in Waikiki.  Floor to ceiling white fabric draping and a custom ceiling installation of white fabric glowed softly with amber lighting to create a romantic atmosphere.  Mood created a round ceremony platform that was placed in the center of the ballroom as guests were seated on all sides of the platform to create a full circle.  Trisha and Gavin's inspiration for their ceremony decor was a design created by the brilliant David Beahm of David Beahm Design in New York.  As guests dined in a white fabric draped ballroom next door, our Mood team transformed the ceremony area into a swanky lounge.  The atmosphere of the ballroom transitioned into a night club as the lights went from soft amber to brilliant blue.  

 

 

This round platform would create a stunning base for a sweetheart table or even a cake table.

Sunrise...Down the Isle

It's just over a month away until the lucky winning couple, Tanya and Brett, walk down the aisle at the Four Season's Manele Bay on Lanai.    What will their wedding decor look like?  You get to decide!  Visit Hawaii News Now by January 15th to vote on your favorite look for their wedding.  Three design concepts were created for Sunrise viewers to vote on.  Keeping reading for more details on the design concepts....

Romantic

 

Soft shades of peach, champagne, and taupe are accented with antique green and plum.  A warm peach linen with an off white organza overlay accented with champagne pearls adds a feminine touch.  Silver candleabras and lacy votives will create a romantic glow across the table.  

Sunset 

 

Inspired by the intense colors of a Manele Bay sunset, this design concept features bold and dramatic shades of saffron orange, magenta, and maize yellow.   Tall arrangements add drama to the table as patterned linens add a touch of whimsy.  Pillar candles embellished with orchid blooms accent the base of the tall designs. 

Platinum

 

This table just oozes glamour and sophistication!   Platinum linens, charcoal accents, mirror vases, crystal tear drops... what's not to love about this modern design?!?  An arrangement of lush white flowers accented with lemon yellow and a hint of chartreuse green floats across the shimmering table.

Junko and Oscar

One of my favorite weddings from 2009 is Junko and Oscar's October wedding at Lanikuhonua.  I love the romantic and lush petaled flowers in a warm raspberry shade of pink.  Garden roses, hybrid ranunculus, hydrangea and dahlias all in deep pink were used in every design.  These delicate flowers held up well even on one of the hottest days of the year!  

Junko chose a softer shade of pink for her bouquet.  Wood pedestal bowls filled with garden roses and dahlias lined the ceremony aisle.  A wood ceremony arch was draped in sheer ivory fabric and accented with raspberry pink flowers.  

 

Fifty-five guests joined Junko and Oscar and dined on one long table under a cloud-like tent.  Crystal chandeliers hung from each peak over the dining table.   A pattern of espresso brown flowers on an ivory linen dressed the dining table, while a sea of raspberry-pink arrangements danced across the table top over aqua-blue runners.

Yvonne, I don't even know where to start...everything was perfect!  You just created what I dreamed of and even more! I couldn't have asked for anything more.

Oscar and I want to THANK YOU and your team for making our wedding the most fabulous, chic and gorgeous wedding ever!!! OMG! I'm not even joking but my jaw did drop all the way to the ground when I first saw our ceremony decor and then reception area and the table decor!!! Everything was perfection. I know I had a vision in my head but it was 100 times better than I could have ever imagined! Yvonne, you completely nailed it and made everything come to the reality.

 I could just keep going on and on about how fabulous your work was! Our wedding was beyond our expectation and we were just so glad that we were able to give our guests the experience that they could never had neither in Japan nor in New York.  It was so unique and personal...

Jennifer and Ryan

A summer wedding at Lanikuhonua turned out to be a glorious day after morning showers threatened to put a damper on an outdoor wedding.   Yes, it does rain in Hawaii even in the middle of August so always have a back up plan! 

I really enjoyed the decor for Jennifer and Ryan's wedding.  It was rather simple, yet quite striking due to the color scheme and large focal flowers.  White was accented with bold yellow and black to give this wedding a chic and modern aesthetic.  

  

Jennifer carried an all white bouquet of hydrangea, roses, ranunculus, and phalaenopsis orchids.  

 

Lush arrangements set on tall black pedestals created a ceremony focal point.  I just love the way the yellow pops from the black chiavari chairs!

 

Large yellow mums embellished each napkin and accented the water station and lounge tables.  I love the playfulness of this flower!  Guests dined on one long table under an all white canopy draped with sheer fabric.  (This is another option for you if you are looking for a canopy but do not want to use wood or bamboo. Check out our new website, MOOD, to view the types of canopies available. )

 

Jennifer had a mixture of designs on her table from submerged roses or phalaenopsis orchids to full floral arrangements, along with different heights of glass vases filled with water and a floating candle.  A great way to add color and dimension to the table is to wrap the vases with a band of ribbon.  Create a little height by using floating candles in tall vases.

I just wanted to tell you that the design aspect of my wedding was EVERYTHING I dreamed of and more.  Everything was EXACTLY to how I envisioned it and was beyond beautiful.  I can tell you that every single one of my guests were amazed and their mouths dropped when they saw the layout.  It was a stressful day, full of mixed emotions with the hurricane issues but once I saw the design, all the stress just seemed to disappear and I was SOOO happy! Everyone kept saying to me throughout the night,  this is soooo beautiful!  The ceremony decor was exactly what I wanted,  displays were amazing.  Honestly, they were as if you took a photo of what I was thinking in my head and made it happen.

My experience has been amazing from the start with your company.  Ally has been so accommodating with all my changes and so patient to really make sure my vision was passed on to you.  She always made me feel like I was a priority.  Nicole as well, spending time to ensure every single item was exactly the way I wanted them to be and making suggestions to create my exact vision.  I also appreciate your assistance in this busy time of the year to keep me in the loop and really make my vision a success.  I know I was not the easiest of brides but I sincerely appreciate your willingness to accommodate with my last minute changes during your busy season.  

I could go on and on but I will end with this simple statement.:

You made my wedding day AMAZING.  My family, my new husband and I will never forget how amazingly beautiful it was and we truly appreciate you for creating our 100% PERFECT wedding day decor!

Lemie and Richard

Lemie and Richard's winter inspired wedding took place at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki.  With the sparkling and glistening holiday decor transforming Waikiki into a  festive Christmas  delight, it seemed only fitting to transform the Hilton Ballroom into a stunning Winter Wonderland!  Shimmering silver manzanita branches, brilliant crystal teardrops, snow white flowers, dazzling rhinestones, twinkling lights, and glowing candlelight created an elegant winter atmosphere and put all 200 guests in the holiday spirit.  

 

The pristine Ocean Crystal Chapel was the perfect setting for the shimmering silver manzanita branches that lined the ceremony aisle and altar.  Crystal teardrops and white roses danced from the silver trees.  

 

A dramatic grand entrance enticed guests to enter the Winter Ballroom.  White fabric boxes filled with white crystals and phalaenopsis orchids held six foot silver manzanita trees decorated with swarovski crystal strands and tear drops, along with blooming white roses.   

Holders made of shiny silver twigs held place cards.   Lush red roses accented with silver twigs decorated the cocktail tables.

    

 

White fabric draped the ballroom walls from floor to ceiling.

  

 

To indulge Lemie's love of bling, the head table linen was edged with rhinestones and rhinestone buckles embellished each napkin.  Small white favor boxes wrapped with sheer silver ribbon held red velvet cupcakes.  

Floating candlelight surrounded cloud-like centerpieces.  Low floral centerpieces incorporated silver branches accented with crystal tear drops.

Swarovski crystals dripped from the silver manzanita trees as phalaenopsis orchids "bloomed" from the branches.  

 

 

Lace snowflakes were projected onto the dance floor in red light with Lemie & Richard projected on top in white.  The ballroom glowed a rich red after guests finished dinner and dancing began.  

An 18' white acrylic bar was illuminated with red lighting.  A photo booth, draped in white fabric to keep with the color scheme, kept guests entertained during cocktail hour.

Paul Mitchell Estate

The Paul Mitchell Estate in Lanikai is one of my favorite wedding locations on Oahu.    The view is spectacular and the estate is pure luxury.   Hire your own chef and you'll never feel the need to set foot outside the estate the entire week you are there!  

We designed a fun wedding at Paul Mitchell Estate not too long ago.  The bride requested an eclectic color scheme of sapphire blue, persimmons orange, and lime green, which definitely made a statement!  

White ostrich feathers were added to the bridal bouquet to give it a unique and stylish shape.

 

Instead of a ring pillow, the ring bearer carried a wicker ball accented with ribbon and flowers. 

 

The centerpieces consisted of hydrangea, cymbidium and mokara orchids, milva roses, and bella donna for a touch of sapphire blue.

Orange, green, and white orchids hung from trees along the path to the beach and also created a whimsical backdrop for the cocktail area.

Details! Details!

It's the little details at weddings that get me so excited.  Dazzling chargers, unique place card holders, funky napkin accents, fine stationery, unexpected floral embellishments, luxurious throw pillows.... there are so many little details that can make your wedding truly unique and your guests feeling so special.  Here are some fun details a few of our clients incorporated into their wedding.  

Capiz shells are an elegant way to incorporate a beach theme into your wedding.  The centerpiece base, chargers, and place card holders are all made from capiz shells.  Stacey of Bradley & Lily created the place cards as well as the stunning table numbers. The floral accent on each chair back is so adorable!

Tropical Elegance was the theme for this wedding. With the color scheme being pre-dominantly green, white was the accent along with elements such as koa wood, bamboo, and crystals.  Uncommon Envelope created the beautiful menus and place cards on the chair backs.

Not a single detail was overlooked at this fuchsia wedding.  With orchids being the only flower used, they could be found accenting every area from the crystal chandeliers to the champagne glasses.  Emi Ink designed the gorgeous stationery with the orchid and butterfly motif, which was also projected onto the dance floor in fuchsia lights.

Such an elegant and formal wedding!  Guests found their seat from the elegant place cards displayed in silver frames.  Romantic lighting through hanging crystal chandeliers and floating candlelight created an intimate and formal dining experience.  Menus embellished with green crystals were placed on striking white chargers.

Glamorous and sophisticated details created a luxurious atmosphere for this wedding.  Marble chargers, dupioni silk fabric draping, Tiffany favors, thick textured linens with organza overlays, organza and silk chair covers, gardenia table accents... such an extraordinary wedding with the finest of details!

Tricia and Nikola

Elegant white flowers, romantic candlelight, soft amber uplighting, and rich taupe linens...the integration of these elements was pure elegance!  Halekulani was the perfect location for this sophisticated wedding.

Jodi and Gary

I just love the sweet details of this country romance wedding that took place at the Stables at Turtle Bay Resort.  The stables sit right on the edge of the ocean, which makes this charming rustic setting even more perfect for a Hawaii wedding.  We were recently asked by Pacific Weddings to be guests on their blog, Love Notes, where we posted this very same wedding.  Here are a few more photos so that you don't miss out on any of the details...

Jodi and Gary's ceremony took place at Kamehameha Chapel.  Jodi carried a stunning bouquet of white cattleya orchids. 

The very talented photographers, Eric and Wendy, of L'amour Photography provided us with these gorgeous detail photos.   Thank you Wendy and Eric! 

Fragrant centerpieces gracing the guest tables consisted of hydrangea, hyacinth, stock, lisianthus, roses, and sweet peas.  Pale yellow gerbera daisies, a favorite of the bride, could be found accenting every area of the reception.   

Curly willow trees embellished with pale yellow flowers were placed around the tent to incorporate a rustic, country feel inside the dining area.

Down the Isle

Destination Style photo shoot

Yvonne Design, along with Destination Style and Pacific Aisles, collaborated on this peacock inspired table and the outcome was quite unique.  Visit Destination Style for more photos and details.  

Ann and Mark

Ann and Mark were such a sweet couple!  Their wedding decor was perfectly appropriate for their personalities....sweet, innocent, understated, yet detailed, exquisite, and refined.  An elegant color scheme of white was accented with celadon green.  Just a hint of fuchsia was introduced but enough to make a statement.  Orchids were the feature flower for Ann and Mark's timeless outdoor wedding. 

  

 

White phalaenopsis orchids with fuchsia throats were the highlight of the dining tables, as green cymbidium orchids accented.  Canopies draped in soft white fabric created an intimate dining space for each guest table.

  

Amber lights illuminated the dining canopies to create a soft, warm glow similar to this remarkable sunset.

Black and White Modern Elegance

This formal wedding in the Koolau Ballroom had a very modern and sophisticated feel.  Silver accented the black and white color scheme as candlelight created a warm and inviting ambiance.  Naomi of Les Saison alternated table linens with either crisp black satin or elegant black and white patterned overlays.  Submerged glass orbs filled with phalaenopsis orchids graced the black satin tables for a very modern look. Delicate arrangements of cloud like hydrangea and cascading stems of phalaenopsis orchids on tall glass cylinders rose above the ornate black and white linens, still keeping with the modern theme but adding a softer elegant appearance.

Purple and Green

Regal purples accented with lively green was a refreshing yet rich color palette for this Lanikuhonua wedding.  A simple wedding but nicely detailed...

Miki and Joel

Driftwood intertwined with coral, succulents, and orchids lined the aisle.

Pin cushion protea resembling a sea creature was the perfect accent to a piece of coral as the cocktail table embellishment.  Lush succulents placed next to a gorgeous piece of coral added texture and interest to the dining tables.

Three types of orchids (mokara, cymbidium, phalaenopsis) combined with protea, anthurium and celosia filled bamboo boxes that spiced up the dining tables with colors resembling saffron and curry.

A gorgeous couple in a gorgeous setting with an amazing photographer!  How could I not share these photos with you! :)

Christina and Brian

You may already be familiar with Christina and Brian's wedding if you have visited Finishing Touch's blog in the past few weeks.  The details (and the photography!) were just so fabulous that I had to share even more photos with you!  Yes, another Lanikuhonua wedding ;), but Christina and Brian's wedding was quite unique due to the dark wood canopies covered in soft spring green silk and the L-shaped floor plan that wrapped around the dance floor.  

I truly loved this color scheme of magenta, fuchsia, plum, mauve and green.  The colors were so rich and the decor was so luxurious!  We used orchids (mokara, cymbidium and phalaenopsis), roses, calla lilies, stock, and hydrangea in all of the designs, and incorporated ostrich feathers and swarovski crystals throughout the ceremony and reception.   Gorgeous runners were custom made for the guest tables and the same material (flown in from Spain!)  covered the sweetheart table.

Kelly and Don

Lanikuhonua was the perfect venue for Kelly and Don's vibrant and tropical color scheme.  Sunset orange and chartreuse green was accented with eggplant purple to create a lively and festive color palette for this California couple.  Orchids were accented with calla lilies to maintain a tropical yet stylish look.  Sheer orange fabric softened the dining tent as amber lights cast a warm glow over the dining guests.  It was definitely a magical night for Kelly and Don's guests as it was a perfect day with a perfect sunset at Lanikuhonua!

Christina and Steve

We posted the decor details from Christina and Steve's wedding back in January, but, as I was going through the wedding photos I received from Stefanie Riedel of Absolutely Loved, I fell in love with the stunning images showing the dress and church details and had to share them with you!   The color and the detail she captures on camera simply fascinates me.  Stefanie's passion for photography is clearly obvious when you see her work.
