Indian Wedding at the Royal Hawaiian

It was an absolutely beautiful day in Hawaii for Kavita and Tejas' wedding at the majestic Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Waikiki.  The brilliant blue sky and lush green grass of the Ocean Lawn became the perfect setting for their vibrant hot pink and peach ceremony colors.  The shades of hot pink and peach roses were carefully selected to compliment the bride's sari, which was absolutely stunning!   After the ceremony, the bride changed into her reception sari and the color scheme of the wedding changed to rich shades of magenta and plum with accents of silver to compliment her new look.

 

 

 The mandap was covered in layers of hot pink fabric in three different textures.  Peach and hot pink floral garlands hung from the back of the mandap along with swarovski crystal strands.  A runner of peach and pink rose petals graced the ceremony aisle.

Baraat - the groom's procession to the ceremony site.  This was the first baraat I have witnessed and I thought it was truly spectacular!   The music, the dancing, the groom's entrance on horseback... so fascinating!

The bride and groom were seated on the stage that Mood Event transformed with rich plum fabric. One hundred hanging swarovski cyrstal strands created a dramatic sparkling backdrop.  The custom platinum sofa was built by Mood's creative director, Alex Garcia.  Nice work Alex!!!  Also provided by Mood Event was the plum lighting that gave the ballroom a very opulent atmosphere.

Amethyst & Pearls

Here are the details of a recent editorial shoot, "Amethyst & Pearls",  featured in the Pacific Weddings Winter/Spring 2011 issue. The shoot was located at the historic and beautiful YWCA Laniakea in downtown Honolulu. The bold and elegant space was the perfect backdrop for this opulent table design.

 

 

Suspended over the table is a lush design of Dolce carnations and Robina lilies.

Ribbons of rich fuchsia- burgundy cymbidium orchids dripped down to the table from the hanging installation.

Antique brown glass vases were filled with luxurious Caramel Antique and Darcy garden roses.

~

 


 
Each place setting showcased metallic bronze chargers accented with smokey pearls.

Napa

We had the wonderful opportunity to design a wedding at the beautiful Carneros Inn in Napa, California this spring.  The couple flew all the way from England to get married in the bride's home state.  The bride, Mikie, chose a rich color palette of magenta, plum, and wine to accent a color scheme of champagne and peacock blue.  With lush petaled and fragrant flowers being the bride's request, we created designs using garden roses, ranunculus, sweet pea, anemone, lilac and jasmine.  

 

 

 

 The groom wore a traditional English morning suit which complimented the bride's gorgeous champagne colored lace dress.

The ceremony backdrop was a lush display of flowers and jasmine vines designed in rustic wood barrels.

~

 

 A manzanita tree at the guest book table displayed family members' wedding photos hung from the branches by ribbons.

A unique twist to the traditional sign in book, the bride had guests write a note in a wine and food cookbook.  

A beautiful, custom escort card holder designed by MOOD.

~

 

The table design featured arrangements in bronze pails and interspersed with bronze lanterns.    

Place cards and table numbers were displayed in custom wine cork holders.  

~

 

A candy display was placed on a huge stone table on the patio outside of the reception room.   Custom candy labels to compliment the table stationery were designed by Bradley and Lily.

Tanya and Brett

Tanya and Brett's Sunset themed wedding took place on the lovely island of Lana'i.  The ceremony location was at one of the most stunning locations here in Hawaii, at the 12th Hole at  The Challenge at Manele.  The views are to die for!  The reception took place at the Four Seasons at Manele Bay, which also has stunning views of the ocean and the most amazing sunsets.    Working on Lana'i is such a treat as it is one of my favorite destinations for a weekend get away!

Christina and Brian

You may already be familiar with Christina and Brian's wedding if you have visited Finishing Touch's blog in the past few weeks.  The details (and the photography!) were just so fabulous that I had to share even more photos with you!  Yes, another Lanikuhonua wedding ;), but Christina and Brian's wedding was quite unique due to the dark wood canopies covered in soft spring green silk and the L-shaped floor plan that wrapped around the dance floor.  

I truly loved this color scheme of magenta, fuchsia, plum, mauve and green.  The colors were so rich and the decor was so luxurious!  We used orchids (mokara, cymbidium and phalaenopsis), roses, calla lilies, stock, and hydrangea in all of the designs, and incorporated ostrich feathers and swarovski crystals throughout the ceremony and reception.   Gorgeous runners were custom made for the guest tables and the same material (flown in from Spain!)  covered the sweetheart table.

Carisse and Todd Part 2

Carisse and Todd Part 1

Many apologies for the much delayed post!  April and May were such busy months that we were busy designing every day, but, now that we are back in the office, we have many, many photos to share with you!  

Carisse and Todd were married at Lanikuhonua on Phase II.  It was such a perfect day for such a perfect couple!  You'll meet Carisse and Todd in Part 2 as Part 1 covers just the decor details.  

Orchids in shades of magenta, plum, and pale yellow were the only flowers at Carisse and Todd's wedding. Phalaenopsis, mokara, and cattleya orchids were combined to create modern arrangements incorporating glass orbs. 

   

Magenta phalaenopsis orchids placed inside glass tear drops hung from the magenta fabric covered ceremony arch. Submerged mokara and phalaenopsis orchids embellished the buttercup cocktail tables.    

Magenta fabric draping and table linens really seemed to burst from the gorgeous green surroundings.  The pale yellow accent of the show plates and napkins lent a soft touch to the decor to tone down the boldness of the magenta.  The pattern of the show plates, resembling coral, added a beautiful texture to the tables.  Crystal chandeliers with phalaenopsis orchids hung over each guest table.  Magenta orchids intertwined with glass orbs filled wide, shallow bowls as table centerpieces. 

The most spectacular aspect of the evening was the lighting!  Magenta lighting filled the dining tent creating a cozy ambiance.  The crystal chandeliers turned a warm pink from the lighting and sparkled throughout the night.  Butterflies over wildflowers danced on the dance floor. The gobo was inspired by Carisse and Todd's stationary created by Emi Ink.   The AMAZING whimsical cake by Cake Lava was a so unique!   A 3-sided bar made it convenient for guests to pick up a drink from either the dining tent, the lounge area, or the cocktail area.
